Pros
Pay is good, around 10-12 per hour. You work independently for the most part. Some stores have a nice baking area that's out of the way, others are crowded and cramped. You learn to work much more efficiently and how to be precise about proofing, baking temp/steam, timing etc. One free meal per shift, free drinks
Cons
Panera staff is very overworked, fast paced and high pressure. I once got a stomach virus at work and since they're perpetually understaffed and had no one to cover my shift, I had to work the whole shift in between running to the bathroom to puke. A bunch of other bakers in the area got the same virus due to the pressure to work while sick. Same with colds, etc. If one baker got it all of them got it. Management would get annoyed if you tried to call out. You also have to travel an hour+ for meetings. You also spend a lot of time pulling product from the freezer. You're required to take a 30 min break but a lot of bakers don't have time, so they clock their break after the shift. It's a lot of work and can be very draining. Especially night baking where you're alone in the store. Your shift is over whenever the long list of tasks is completed, so shifts can be very long, anywhere from 8-12 hours. But you're pressured to cut your hours while doing the same amount of work. Decent pay but not worth the stress IMO
