PLS Logistics Services

Is this your company?

You are just a number on a piece of paper... a piece of paper that will be torn up and thrown away in a few months. - Account Executive Trainee PLS Logistics Services Employee Review

Pros

Most of the people who are account executive trainees are likable and easy to work with... you're all in the same boat and you support each other. You will probably make a lot of good friends. Also, you gain a lot of knowledge of the transportation industry through the initial training.

Cons

You are pretty much expected to fail. Even trainees that were used as examples of doing well in some of the training classes ended up getting fired in the long run. It doesn't always matter if you try really, really hard and make a lot of cold calls... sometimes the market just is bad, or you won't call the right people, and you will end up getting fired. But that's a sales job, I suppose.... but they really don't care if you succeed. No one gets too attached to each other. Just not a great environment to work in....

Pros

The Colleagues and relationships you make with your co-workers. Building a book of business, and fast paced environment. Unlimited Growth Potential.

Cons

The direction the company is headed in and the toxicity of an everchanging management structure. As someone who spent almost a decade with PLS; I can say fully and honestly, they do not care about you. This is a company to build experience with and move on from. If you are a $20K rep for more than 6 months, after you roll out, they will move off of you. You will be terminated with no second thought--other reps will poach your clients and potentially ruin any relationships. Furthermore, management tends to play favorites--If you show growth potential, they will feed you, but the moment you fail on one opportunity--you will be turned over. This is not the job for anyone who questions their own ability and work ethic. PLS Hires in classes - they will hire 30-40 people at a time, and in 3 months, 4 to 5 people of that class will remain. The turn over is extremely high and there is no job security. Finally, even if you are a top performer, they will not hesitate to get rid of you.
