Good for parents...not so good for employees - SAK Program Director PLASP Child Care Services Employee Review

Pros

- better pay rate than average child care providers - split shift makes it possible to relax or do errands in between - good if you prefer to be independently running your room

Cons

- The training was improperly taught, which lead to newcomers having gaps in their knowledge of policy & overall procedure - Managerial staff had become more lax in supervision and guidance, due to many staff being long-time veterans, leading to those who are new to unknowingly run their program incorrectly - Accountability always placed on the staff members alone, with head office more concern with writing up employees than recognizing areas they can improve on so it doesn't happen in the future - Focused too heavily on proper labels and outward image than the continuous behavioral issues with children (ex. showed more concern if my board was presented well than my issues/ attempts in teaching common decency to the children.) - Little to no contact with managerial staff, except only to give negative feedback - Extra unpaid time will be necessary to prep for activities on a daily basis - Conflict with teachers happens regularly, as many would prefer to have your group re-locate permanently so they may have their room back for grading & such - Quick to take the side of the parents over the staff, showing no real support for them in their dilemma - Expected to know all the options available to you when trying to problem solve, though no one takes the time and fill you in on this: it only comes up when they are writing down another infraction of you.
