Horrible place to work - Elite Receptionist Office Concierge Employee Review

Pros

Voucher for a free eye test and having a job (sort of slavery job but in desperation you take anything)

Cons

- long hours - ugly, old style, used ill-fitted uniforms (my skirts were too long, too big, they constantly got ripped and this is how I wore them despite the fact I should have looked presentable). I also asked a few times for winter jumper but never got one. We had to wear an ugly pearl necklace and someone commented once that in full uniforms we looked like elderly ladies going to a funeral. - extremely hard to get holiday or a day off for a doctor's appointment ( before they give you a day or few hours off for doctor's appointment you have to provide a proof of this appointment) - that just shows a lack of trust towards employees. They also don't pay you for the time when you are attending the appointment so I why do you need to provide the proof of appointment? Seriously what do you need it for? Also, you can only get a day off for doctor's and hospital appointments, nothing else. When you are sick and can't come to work they are super mean to you on the phone making you feel guilty and they ask you to describe your symptoms like if they didn't believe you. That's why your employees have to lie. - in general, the treatment of the employees is awful - I had no support from the management when I talked to them they just looked at me and you could tell they didn't listen. During my probation review, they just ticked everything 'Very good' and didn't care about my opinion. I didn't feel like they cared and that I could say something. That was very unprofessional. The fakeness of the management was unbelievable - fake smiles, pretending to be nice etc. They talk to you like you are a child. They are super controlling - again those proofs of doctor's appointments. - Operations change your schedule constantly, you never know where are you going to work and what time, they are rude and I got even shouted at when I said I need more time to get to some places especially when they call you last minute. I could go on forever but luckily many people before me express all their frustrations very well. To summarise I would call this place a modern day slavery. I don't think to be a static receptionist is as bad as being an elite. I would not recommend this company to anyone. However, if you are desperate and about to be homeless you take anything so if you want a career as receptionist or PA or something like that only stay there for a few months as elite and move on.
