Pros

You can get heavily discounted groceries from the employee shop at the warehouse (not to be confused with the online discount you also get). Colleagues are nice to work with.

Cons

Little to no opportunities to advance in the company internally Long shift hours (which is understandable for a warehouse job)

Pros

Paid breaks and paid full shift even if you finish early. Overtime rates are good especially on a Sunday evening. Easy job to get into. Decent level of freedom whilst out in the van.

Cons

Time pressures continuously increasing mean that sometimes drivers don’t have time to use the bathroom. Very early starts (eg. 4am for marshalls) followed by 1 day off and then very late finishes (eg. 12:30am) is likely damaging to health long term. Employment system based on monitoring (including via CCTV), rather than building trust between employers and employees, diminishes trust and care from both parties. Employer tries to discourage unionisation and largely treats each staff member as just a number, limiting opportunities for employees to improve their working conditions. Very limited opportunities for progression, and to earn a salary that is enough to support a family.
