Pros
Job security and a decent pension
Cons
I started as part of a team in the Shared Service centre there, and it was pretty much a toxic team where I was subjected to sexisim from my co-workers every day. Having an uninterested line manager whom played favourites did not help. I ended up getting a secondment and a payrise, with a less toxic team, buit there are problems, such as an invoicing and billing system that was built a decade ago, does not lend itself to any level of manual input or correction, the processes are long and complicated. That and the fact the team is new and the predecessors left without completing any handover, and the resulting lack of knowledge has led to a high turnover of staff, and its especially worrying when your team leaders either leave or go off on long term sick leave, and there stand in is rude, condescending and abrasive, with little knowledge or interest in the issues that the team faces.
