Pros

Great people, understanding leadership team, and wonderful benefits. The leadership team is very transparent (more so than I’ve ever seen) and listens to their employees, taking action to make a difference. No matter what position you are in, your voice is heard. People really care and are passionate about their work, but also want to get to know each other. You can see this during our company events. Engineers are extremely smart, probably best of the best. The work environment is very relaxed (awesome office), there’s flexibility to work from home, and you’re encouraged to pursue professional development (higher education, training courses, goal setting programs, etc.). I feel extremely lucky to work for such a great, innovative company that actually cares about their employees. This was a radically different employer for me, a change for the best. I highly recommend working here and hope to see this company thrive!

Cons

All smaller companies have their quirks and seem a bit dysfunctional, but NetCraftsmen is definitely similar to a startup company, so processes need to be put into place. Be prepared to do your share of work and then some, we all wear multiple hats. Sales seem to depend on one partner for the most part, but there are others out there that want to see us succeed and use their solutions. Restricted to only a small region and not national, which many prospects could be right outside of those boundaries. Other than that, there’s not much to dislike.

Thank you. We are pleased that you see (and related) our strength - our people. We do have to mature as a business and put in place processes that make things easier - not bog us down in bureaucracy. We continue to evolve. We're glad you are evolving with us.

Pros

They really push continuing education and professional certifications. The company provides time off and a budget for professional development. Professional certifications are encouraged and employees are bonused on achieving and maintaining them.

Cons

Not a good place for someone who doesn't like to learn and embrace new technology and trends.

Pros

You'll never run out of things to learn or people to learn from at Chesapeake NetCraftsmen. NetCraftsmen prides itself on having and recruiting top technical talent, especially as related to Cisco skills. The company is known for having a lot of very senior CCIE's. You get to work with nationally known experts, but you'll never find a more humble group of network & UC superstars - everyone is willing to help. The people here really seem to care about being special both personally and as a company. NetCraftsmen runs in an "open books" mode, where the high-level financials are published monthly to all employees, and all employees are welcome to ask questions at Board of Directors meetings.

Cons

1. It's easy to let yourself take on too much and become overcommitted. 2. Bonuses swing pretty wildly with company/team performance -- I can't control my bonus based on my own performance.

Excellent advice. I believe we are making good progress on balancing management and letting Engineers do their thing.
