Pros

New CEO with an aggressive vision for the future and commitment to building new pathways for growth.

Cons

The Canadian publishing industry continues to spin the revolving door between the big three publishers. Nelson fell back into this trap recently with an influx of "professional publishers" from competing brands. Despite the CEO's best efforts to re-point the ship, legacy employees from leader challenged peer companies will do very little to drive transformational change. Unfortunately, the last decade of fiscal mis-management places the company in a very challenging position. Balance sheets should have been calibrated five to eight years ago in light of declining revenues and print market conditions. Consolidation will continue, and Nelson will continue to exist, but leadership hubris will need to give way to pragmatism in this ever shrinking industry.

Pros

Can't really think of any convincing pros... Summer hours perhaps, if you are into that. Scarborough if you you live there. Otherwise, stay away!

Cons

The company went recently through an insolvency process and we all know what that means: don't expect investments in people, processes or technology. Instead, layoffs and cost cuttings are the norm and the company seems oblivious to what that means to its long term survival.
