I wish I could write something here. What I will tell you is that I'm posting this review twice, as they have TWO entries under Glassdoor. I didn't need to do this, but I felt it important to warn all the new hires they are trying to recruit - STAY AWAY. They're offering fluffy salaries to try and recruit new people. What they'll really be paying you for, is to put up with their bull. See below.

Cons

No (up & running) company website. No corporate phone number. TERRIBLE payroll. Terrible. Payroll errors ranged from new hires not being paid on time, to full-time employees being paid twice, to leasing commissions not being paid consistently or on time, to payroll checks bouncing. Awful communication from corporate (perhaps because the individuals were overworked?). Employees found out about policy changes from upset residents contacting the property. Checks & funds were held without notice or explanation, vendors were not paid on time, phone numbers were changed with no notice, corporate employees were hired/fired with no communication to the property. The owner is awful. Read all of the other reviews. He is selfish, paranoid, arrogant, an extreme micromanager (asked to be cc'd on ALL emails), he rambles with no point or purpose to his message, is full of big ideas with no followthrough, and clearly doesn't understand student housing at all. Bonuses were promised and never given after move-in day. No HR department. No employee conduct policy or standards, and no incident report writing standards. No budgets were given to properties. As the title says, run, don't walk, from this company. It WILL go under.

I am a troubleshooter and a leasing/marketing ninja for student housing and travel throughout the portfolio to help properties lease up. I organize events, get sponsorships and sell ad space for Nelson Brothers Property Management. I also help negotiate contracts for discounts and help to deal with billboard ads. I wear many hats everyday in this business. You HAVE to be a go getter for this industry and be prepared for ANYTHING, this industry is not for everyone. It is for me & I LOVE it and my company! Patrick & Brian Nelson are great owners who genuinely care for the employees, I have personally witnessed this many times. They are brilliant business minded men who give respect to workers and are highly involved in the operations. HR Ninja, Rob ROCKS and Shaun the National Director of Leasing is very knowledgeable and upholds high standards for employees and operations. I like everyone I work with and we are a family here at NB, I truly feel this way. If there is ever an issue we talk it out, we brainstorm ideas and I love that we are not afraid of trying new ideas. Our social media director Amanda is so creative we just can’t loose! It is all about good people and growth within, if it wasn’t I wouldn't work here.
