Low Pressure, OK Pay - ENT-Software Engineer Cons I National General Insurance Employee Review

Pros

The job isn't high pressure, and the interview process reflects that. Good work life balance. I never have to work more than 40 hours a week unless I want to.

Cons

The company is very rigid and you won't have the opportunity to dive into many aspects of software engineering. There is a team for DB, a team for CI/CD, a team for everything. You will mostly just work your little area. There also doesn't seem to be much room for career growth. Raises are pretty small, and I haven't seen anyone get promoted in my 2 years here. They reported the highest earning day in the company's history this year and only gave out sweaters as a reward- no monetary bonus whatsoever.

Pros

Great work life balance and management is quite supportive.

Cons

Migration to new system had some issues. Like not being able to access what I needed for work took close to 2 months. Still got paid though

Pros

Pay was good and benefits were good. Teamwork is definitely a plus. I found most team members to be extremely helpful. There is definitely a system to help you learn if you can find the time.

Cons

The company says it will listen to complaints without repercussions, but I didn't find that to be the case. Too many metrics to meet which causes you to fall behind. No room for advancement if the supervisor doesn't like you or if the team is short members. No consistency from team to team.
