Pros

The people and the engagements are fantastic, exactly what I thought it would live up to be. Fast-paced environment full of innovation with a diverse team that's a pleasure to be around and a shame to leave.

Cons

Get rid of your people team. A number of people struggle to realise the value that some of these six figure individuals bring in; and contrasts with (from personal experience) to those who spent a long time away from family creating exciting projects.

Pros

I've worked almost a year in their product team as Engineer, and it has been one of the best experiences in my career for three reasons: * Brilliant colleagues. Mudano is hiring top talent out there, but not only smart, they have to fit the company's culture and be nice, empathetic people too. Only brilliant AND nice people pass the cut. * Startup feeling. Mudano has a strong vision and is working hard on an ambitious long-term product that will change the industry. Working under this atmosphere with a clear purpose it's better than working in web agencies where employees are not normally engaged with the customer's project. Intrinsic motivation feels good. * Caring. Management and PMs care for their employees. "Ambitious" in London normally means "long hours in an open office, being exploited until you quit". In Mudano not, they want people to stay long-term, healthy work-life balance, you will be assigned a coach, and management asking often "how are you?".

Cons

* Impostor syndrome. After working many years in this industry, I thought I was pretty good web engineer. But working shoulder-to-shoulder with brilliant people has the side-effect of making you feel not good enough. Just shut down that little voice! * Meetings. Mudano is now a mid-size company, so deciding what and how things get built (technically) demands certain politics, good communication skills and of course... meetings. It's normal, but I miss the days of having a smaller engineering team where we could move faster.

Pros

Good location of office in London Some good people work there Good social events

Cons

The first time my line manager looked at my cv was on my last day at Mudano - giving an idea of how much interest he took through my experience there. Incredibly poor communication (I would even say miscommunication) from career jockey senior line managers throughout my time there. My experience was perhaps quite different to most of the other reviews on Mudano here, and I also note that a lot of those reviews were from the Product side rather than the Client Facing Consultancy side which I was part of - which is a lot more corporate, political, ruthless, and frankly not creative at all (understandably to some extent as they have to please clients). I have worked for quite a few start ups and small companies in the past but with all that experience I couldn't understand how to create something at Mudano, the commitment from line managers and structures in the business aren't set up to allow this.

Thank you for your feedback, we are very sorry that your brief time with us was not consistent with your expectations. It truly saddens us when someone leaves and does not feel they have learned, developed new skills, ways of thinking, and generally enjoyed themselves. There has obviously been a failure in our coaching structure to let you get into this situation and we have let you down. Sorry. The essence of your review does provide a useful warning to those thinking of joining us. We absolutely want to change the world. We bring that optimism with us every day, and we will not apologise for it, or temper it. That means we can sometimes accidentally set unachievable expectations for new joiners. There is no template for changing the world and that means sometimes we get it right, and sometimes we get it wrong, but we will never stop striving for better. If you join us you will find that not everything is always going to be better or different all the time, but the rules in which you operate in absolutely are. The leadership truly want you to be empowered to be change makers, to focus on client value above all else, to be creative and challenge the status quo. Sometimes constraints of client demands, legacy ways of working and technology will make that extremely difficult. Sometimes you will be in a role that will feel somewhat traditional, and you will be the closest person to figuring out how to make that small part revolutionary. We will continue to invest in putting support in place to make it easier for our team and clients to revolutionise, but there will always be more we can do. You should join Mudano if you want to be part of the team who changes the world, and be joining because you think that will be as frustrating, hard and complex as it is satisfying. You mentioned that you found it hard to “create something” or indeed be creative at Mudano. This is extremely disappointing for us, as we believe this is at the absolute core of transformational change and everything we stand for. We have raised with the people working group this exact topic today to understand what more we can do to help our team and make sure your situation is an isolated one. We apologise if we didn’t give you enough support to find your voice and effect change. Thank you for your review, we wish you well for the future.
