Pros

Part time employees get benefits. I love the people I work with.

Cons

For profit healthcare system that seems to value ED turnaround times over everything else. They don’t give raises, only “market adjustments”, and that’s if you’re lucky. Many employees have left in the last 2 years. No extra compensation/retention bonus for sticking it out through Covid. Lots of policies are made by people who don’t even do the job, often with no input from those that do.

Pros

Great nurses, resilient community, many leadership growth opportunities, large hospital with many specialties, the only level 1 trauma center in WNC.

Cons

The hours are very challenging. often 5am to 6pm M-F. No additional compensation for extra hours, nights, or on-call weekends. You must love the work, and have minimal need for work-life balance to enjoy working here.
