Pros

The job can be interesting, fun ,and exciting Provides 401K and other benefits Great coworkers in the department Some coworkers at the store level are great too Flexible schedule Paid time off Sick time Depending on the work location, management may be very supportive of the AP department.

Cons

Some managers, store directors, and corporate persons at the company act like they are hot stuff when in reality; they work at a grocery store. Pay for entry-level persons in the department should be higher Pay in general at retail is not good and is laughable Depending on your work location, management at the store can be very unsupportive and uncaring about the AP department in general. They will act like your job doesn't matter until it is convenient for them to think otherwise. This also goes for management at the corporate level. This makes it difficult to not get burned out without being a self-motivated individual. Depending on the location, store management can be unprofessional and toxic. Some managers will actually yell at and belittle employees when they are upset. Or they may start yelling at you about something that is not within your control. This is likely a result of many managers and store directors not being educated. Unethical leadership. Weekend shifts.

Pros

Direct coworkers were great to work with. I also enjoyed being left to do my work and not babysat by management.

Cons

Management doesn't know what they are doing. Resets and floor plans were regularly not done properly. The store I worked at has a skeleton crew so I never got help (but was expected to stop everything I'm going to go help other departments/areas). Also meaning good luck to any customers needing help, especially when I was the only person working my area of the store, so when I wasn't there, no one was. Management also regularly disappeared into the offices or were on vacation. Also was terminated for reasons outside my control even though I was told they look at the reasons for attendance incidents before termination. Never got to get the FMLA or accommodation to my doctors before being terminated two days after I requested them. Didn't bother asking for a raise either. I did multiple times and got nothing.
