Pros
Pros - you get a paycheck Some people are genuinely very nice and are trying to make the most out of a bad situation. We are in the same boat experiencing the same unfortunate situation of feeling trapped, unappreciated, and flabbergasted at how this company is run and how managers are allowed to keep their jobs.
Cons
I cant put into words how terrible the engineering management is. They say you can't truly enjoy the light until you've experienced the darkest darkness. When under foolish engineering management at MapR you'll quickly realize that your next job can only be better. Managers in engineering are not technical and thus invite all sorts of problems. Project management team don't even know the basics of the kind of work being done at the company, but still keeps bugging for the status of the tasks with a completely meaningless "smart sheets". If there is any advice that I can offer to current or future engineers is to save yourself the frustration and heartache of working here. It will affect your happiness and carry over to other parts of your life. There is no such thing as boxing this job into a purely "work" category.
