They tend to train people from the bottom up and promote from within.
Cons
Management is a joke. Lots of favoritism and a lack of communication. If something is happening within your team, you often find out from other employees before anyone in a supervisory position informs you of changes. The office caters to younger, more dispensable employees because they do not like paying the standard rate for professionals in similar positions. Their reasoning for sub-par pay in some teams is because they claim to be a "lifestyle firm" with a work-life balance, which isn't the case. There are many problems in the firm, and the head attorneys do not care to address them.
