Pros

Easy to get the job and helped give me a footing to get other positions afterwards. Good atmosphere between the staff that were already there. As it was a small company everybody seemed to know each other well and get along well.

Cons

It was my first role in finance or sales and the company were made fully aware of this at interview. I was told that there would be full training provided, but myself and the other new starters didn't feel there was any real effort put into this. We were also told that expenses would be covered yet never got this in writing and never had expenses reimbursed which meant this role cost us.

Pros

Opportunities to progress quickly, true meritocracy and pushed to take industry exams if you want to progress to an advisory stockbroking role. Been here 15 months and have progressed from a junior role to account manager. One exam away from being an FCA registered financial adviser.

Cons

Hard work at the start, you are essentially taking the job at the bottom but you can't expect to walk into the top with no experience. As it is FCA regulated, initial calls are very scripted as the have to be within certain regulations, which for me gave some direction when coming into the role with no experience.

Pros

Hard working environment. Lots of experience within the company that I have been able to learn from. They seem to have the right attitude with how they want go grow the business and have a vision of where they want to take it. A lot more ethical and professional than a previous broker I worked for. It's also good it's a family company as there is definitely a strong camaraderie amongst the staff.

Cons

It's long hours sometimes and can be stressful. This is more to do with the role not the company though. There are also very high standards set for employees which means a lot of them fall away or give up when it gets hard.
