Pros

The pay, however, if you ever sit down and work out your wage based on your hours actually worked it's nowhere near as good as you think. Building relationships with the other members of staff who have to struggle through the same level of crap that you do.

Cons

Long brutal hours and shifts. Constantly understaffed and pushed to achieve the impossible despite the obvious staffing issues. It had softened in recent years to an almost bearable level but the months leading up to my departure had seen a new push on productivity to reach ridiculous and dangerous levels of staffing. No regard for employment law as regards to hours worked and adhering to contracts given out. Constantly bullying from hierarchy to achieve targets that aren't achievable. No health and safety, no cleaning or hygiene standards (don't buy stuff from the bakery because nobody ever has the time to clean it properly!!) no respect given to loyal staff and just generally a horrible company to work for that will steal your life and expect you give up any commitments at the drop of a hat. Finally, they quite happily ignore constant complaints from staff about certain abusive and bullying managers. Awful HR that are there for appearance and certainly don't full fill their job role in the slightest. Please please PLEASE don't take a job with this company. They will suck out your soul and leave you feeling empty and worthless.

Pros

Benefits are excellent, most people at the peer level are great. Clear performance expectations. Decent cross functional communication

Cons

Company leadership very European and doesn't quite understand the American consumer even after being in the US so long. Unreasonable expectations are the norm. No upward mobility unless you are European or speak fluent German.
