Pros
Decent benefits and modern facilities.
Cons
Since I quit, I've asked myself many times why did I even accept this job to begin with As soon as the job started, I realized very quickly I had made a mistake. With very few exceptions, I've worked with the most difficult people I have ever met. The philosophy of "you're responsible for your own training" serves no purpose other than to justify the fact that the company doesn't have a good training program. You're assigned a mentor to guide you through your training but unfortunately, this person is likely to ignore you and never spend any time with you because he/she is swamped with their own stuff. I also found out that most "mentors" aren't even interested in mentoring anyone. I was put in VA for "training" along with other team mates and it got to a point where my Line Manager had to train us because the said "Mentor" didn't want to have anything to do with us (I caught her on the phone interviewing for other jobs several times). Anyway, I wanted to let things settle in my brain so I could write an objective review. There is something about this company I can't put my finger on. There's a bad attitude, a toxic atmosphere that hovers over every single corner from store to corporate. The behaviors are consistent with a high school mentality and the management style is based on fear rather than respect. When other reviewers say you are treated like a child, spied on, micromanaged, etc., you better believe it - it's the sad truth of the daily life at Lidl. I have almost 20 years of experience in Supply Chain and I have never been treated so poorly . The treatment not only myself but others in my team received from our Line Manager was appalling. The job wasn't that difficult but with training being so poorly delivered in a 60 hr working week, it became a loosing battle for me, personally. That's not a good place to be so I left. In Summary, if you're recent out of college, this may be a learning opportunity, but don't stay too long. You will learn a lot of new things. Just make sure you don't learn how to treat others from these people. They know very little about building a responsible, consistent and healthy culture. Also, if you're in your late 40s, stay away. You will be treated with contempt, for sure.
