Pros

- Has CI - tech is not complex so it’ll be an easy job for most - base salary is competitive - benefits are decent - were willing to allow work from home for the pandemic - generous referral program

Cons

- lots of legacy code - lack of investment in fixing tech debt - no stocks or stock options and the pay is no better than most Canadian companies - no mentorship or training - for some, working with old tech (e.g. Ruby) may be a problem - lack of shared values; this manifests in contrasting priorities between engineer & product, and even within engineering itself - engineering management is meant to boost engineer’s productivity but you may find they do the exact opposite or at the very least are slow to make meaningful changes - lack of transparency from business and engineering managers - rarely any promotions and only cost of living salary adjustments - development moves like molasses, partly due to compliance - management has a history of not taking concerns seriously and making decisions behind closed doors - lots of people have had burnout; management knew about it but did nothing to fix it cause they needed them to deliver

Pros

As a current employee who has been with Lendesk for several years, I can confidently say it’s been the most rewarding place I’ve worked. The people here are the secret sauce. Such a strong group of passionate and collaborative people. It sounds cheesy, but it's inspiring. On top of that, the products and solutions we build are meaningful, with a strong market fit and excellent feedback from customers. Another huge pro are the benefits, the PTO is very generous and there is a strong sense of work/life balance.

Cons

Lendesk is in growth mode, which naturally brings its share of “champagne problems.” Things can move quickly and priorities can shift, so it helps to bring passion and flexibility. For those who enjoy a dynamic, evolving environment, it’s definitely exciting.
