Pros
decent insurance, tuition reimbursement, stocks, cross training chances.
Cons
no growth potential, unless you move from assistant to MLT. pay very low. you are expected to work extra hours every day if other areas have work to do, even if your area is done. mandatory holiday work at least once a year, and mandatory work 6 days a week at least once a month. no work life balance, little flexibility with schedule, and rapid, repetitive, constant working all day, for very little pay, 14$ an hour. even if you have more education and experience than required for job, you will not be paid more. and pay is only decent if you work night shift. this company has machines doing most of the work, and lab assistant does things like put labels on tubes. little exposure to actual microbiology tests, unless there is time for cross training you. lab assistant job is for high school students going to college to become an mlt. mlt's have decent pay, but still very low.
