Pros

On Assignment/Lab Support before Apex joined the fold was really a great company. As a former internal employee, there was a lot of teamwork between branches. Though profits and margins were always important there didn't seem to be such a laser-light focus on them at all times. We were expected to do our job, do it well, and ensure our company is making money. But we were taught to do these things in a professional way. We were taught to act as staffing consultants and really be students of staffing. The people I worked with in my office were great and our management (for the most part) was very helpful and willing to take the time to assist you.

Cons

Everything changed when we merged with Apex. Our management changed and suffered dramatically! People were promoted that had no rights to be managers. Our commission structures changed. The way we were measured as being successful completely changed. It's as if in the middle of a game someone came in and said we're playing by our rules now and if you don't like it then quit. Our back office and timecards and payroll and everything... changed. Apex came in and pushed sales as being frankly the only thing that's important. Instead of hiring "scientists" which Lab Support always talked about, they're hiring kids right out of college without science experience. We had to have a certain amount of resume submittals every week. They would rather have quantity and not quality. It's just really a shame because I truly loved this company. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone now!

Pros

I had a good experience with lab support. I was contacted for a position and placed with the client pretty quickly. I started with them (pleasanton ca branch) in 2015 then was hired on as permanent in 2016. I stayed at that company i was placed with for 3years. Also the recruiter would check in with me and my boss to make sure everything was going smoothly and would bring us chocolates every year for Christmas. I was offered health insurance through lab support but at the time I didn’t need it.

Cons

In my experience there were no cons.

Pros

Once a recruiter gets hold of your resume, they are relatively quick in contacting you with opportunities and in scheduling interviews. Compensation was reasonable for a low-level contract lab tech position. I was placed with a company with which I am very happy and was actually brought on full time at a higher position once my contract ended. Good for "getting your foot in the door," so to speak.

Cons

There is little to no communication between Lab Support and their contract employees once placed in a contract position. The only resource provided is the Contractor Care phone line, and the help given is inconsistent and, on two occasions, the information provided was actually wrong. However, the largest "con" I experienced was their benefits system, which is atrocious. Upon being hired I was given no information about benefits and their availability. Thankfully, I inquired with my recruiter who told me they were available, but actually electing into the benefits offered (Dental and vision are good, health coverage is extremely expensive if you want decent coverage) was not easy or streamlined (I was given erroneous information by a Contractor Care representative, and upon submission I received no confirmation regarding the receipt of my paperwork, despite inquiring). Upon completion of my contract and the resulting termination of benefits, I have received little to no information regarding continuation coverage, despite reaching out to multiple people on several different occasions.
