Pros

The actual work is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. If you don’t mind getting covered in chicken blood, breading, and general deli mess, the tasks aren’t complicated. Some coworkers were friendly and helpful.

Cons

The job is extremely messy. Expect to smell like fried chicken all the time and to go home covered in breading. Management was disorganized and often short-staffed, making simple tasks harder than they needed to be. The biggest issue: When I needed emergency spinal surgery, I was approved for short-term disability, but Kroger refused to pay out. I was out for months with zero income while recovering and unable to work. After my disability period ended, instead of allowing me to return, they fired me. They have also refused to rehire me. There was no real support or compassion from management during a medical crisis. Overall: The day-to-day job itself is easy, but if you ever need real support from the company, especially during a medical emergency...don’t expect it. My experience left me financially devastated and extremely disappointed in the way Kroger treats its employees. I would not recommend working here.

Pros

• Generally work with fantastic people. • Work is not difficult, and time flies when busy. • My bosses collaborated with me to create a schedule that worked, as I often had other commitments. • Overall, a pleasant work experience most days. Get good at what you do and you'll do fine.

Cons

• Some of the senior management was less friendly than others - as to be expected. • Days were very volatile; some could be extremely easy, and others could be a nightmare. • Scheduling was kept rather limited; although I was able to get the hours I wanted, often times management would look to cut hours from departments whenever possible, leaving less support.
