Pros

The franchise I worked for had so much potential for prosperity. It had flexible work schedules, great training, and I loved the challenge it presented me with to grow knowledge I already have, and obtain new skills.

Cons

Tax preparers were weaponized against one another by upper management; so the management team could get what they wanted from them. There were a lot of empty promises and the pay is lack luster compared to what they ask of you. There is no real room for growth or opportunities.

Pros

I personally really loved working for Jackson Hewitt. The co workers were amazing, and everyone did there best to help out. They have a microsoft teams chat that allows you to reach out to anyone whenever you need it. It was my first year and I learned more than I could ever imagine.

Cons

The only cons I would say is that sometimes you won't be able to get 40 hour weeks. But this varies depending upon which location you are in. Also, your hourly pay is about 16.5 an hour, so definitely under market value.

Pros

Good basic training and general assistance in the training process.

Cons

Retail tax services at Jackson Hewitt have the problem of being scheduled by online appointment in blocks of one hour on the clients' end. As clients can make appointments as they want, you might need to deal with more complicated tax returns with a single clients and more upset clients building up in the background. For new tax preparers, it's rough to manage the customer's time and negative emotions especially in the thick of tax season, because if you need a manager or help to deal with a situation, it's not likely to be available in a timely manner.
