Pros

Decent pay, OK benefits. Low responsibility in most positions leads to a stress-free work day most of the time. Management is competent and has become more reasonably structured.

Cons

Pitiful respect for employees. Simply because we are contractors, we have no rights and are held to an obscenely high standard. 8-12 weeks notice for a single day off, but schedules are not provided until 1 or 2 weeks beforehand, and then are still subject to change. Punitive action for taking 5 sick days or more in a single day. Never given 40-hour weeks. PTO accrual AND pay rate are reduced if you do not work 40-hours, so a person with 85% of FTE receives about 70% of a full-time employees PTO. Random unannounced reviews to keep employees on their feet make you feel like a prisoner having their cell inspected by the warden. These are veiled as friendly visits, but are always followed with form "thank you" emails that make it apparent that the event was mandated.

Pros

Great opportunity to do meaningful work with clients and grow your skills. In addition to serving current clients well, Intrepid has attracted some amazing new outsourcing clients (including top tech companies) in the last year, AND has built an awesome new learning technology product that combines social, collaborative & short-form learning. Great outcome for the company (people, clients, etc.) with the sale of the services business to Xerox, and launch of the tech business as a new company!

Cons

As a smaller company, at times there have been limits to the ability to advance to the next level--the Xerox acquisition addresses that for the outsourcing and professional services team members.

Pros

Flexible work schedules. Ability to work from home. Unfortunately, that's about it.

Cons

Stunningly unethical behavior on the part of senior managers. Many, many good people have left this company with a bad taste in their mouths. Sadly, Sam Herring is a figurehead and a "golden boy" who gives good speeches - but he is not the right person to lead a company, under any circumstances. There's been a revolving door of leaders for years. You're promised much more than you're given. Some of the unethical behavior is stunning in its transparency and audacity. Hard to believe Madrona backed this company and yet did not provide proper management oversight.
