Pros

opportunities to travel in the region but this is now grinding to a halt unless you are a manger who can travel around to sites to do appraisals

Cons

Wants to implement "Follow the Sun" but actually it is "Follow the Unites States" - all IT processes are driven by team in the States. IT Management in EMEA and APAC regions are lapdogs with little if any IT technical knowledge nor people management skills. Projects are way behind on technological trends for example still have Windows 2003 systems; AD and virtualization is poorly implemented. Networking standards are not enforced. Very little chance for your voice to be heard because strict hierarchical layers are enforced. no training, staff not incentivised for career progression - unless you happen to be in the management clique

Pros

Good group of people in local office.

Cons

Stuck in the past. Unwilling to consider updating methods or procedures. "We've done it this way for 30 years and it has worked." Sales relies upon project engineers to do most of their work for them. When volume of work is slow that becomes the engineers responsibility to go find new clients. Can't reliably pay the most basic of utility bills on time. I've seen the power cut off 2x and the gas this past winter.
