Pros

There are some really nice people who will for the most part help you wherever they can

Cons

Terrible management, site director focus is strictly on financials so little to no attention to employee wellbeing and a lot of cost-saving initiatives (not for the better) are being introduced. There is no presence of the HR on site or virtually, this has been raised several times even to the director and nothing changes. Due to the issues on site, it seems that there is a intention of creating a lack of HR in order to formally "stay blind" to the bullying and inappropriate work culture. Very toxic environment, 80% of employees throughout the entire business are unhappy and open about it. Overtime is paid however there is no work life balance due to it, and this overrules the flexi-time hours as a perk. Current site director is a bit like a facist leader, implementing processes without inputs and essentially forcing senior management to "make them work". No internal project management so very poorly managed projects that go live without being ready or go live with a ridiculous amount of issues and hindering to the business as they lack functionality. There is an incredibly shocking discrepancy in pay across the business, especially in the lab. Director responds to staff enquiries that they perform ongoing benchmarking (however they obviously do not benchmark to current staff, this is only done for new employees). There are a lot of politics with job titles, lack of clear job descriptions and accountabilities and this influences pay but also provides management justification to not give you a raise. For example, you will have Project Coordinators or Associate Project Managers doing the exact same work as Project Managers, however they are paid 10-15k less than most PMs. There is also an ongoing joke within the company where if you have a day off, people ask how your interview went. There is site wide bullying, openly bad mouthing other employees and this will even come from Senior Management. It's incredibly inappropriate and unprofessional. There is also gaslighting and visible special treatment to employees, management may witness inappropriate staff behaviour but little gets done about it. Staff will raise issues and concerns including proactive solutions to current systems however little action gets done.

Pros

Good group of people in local office.

Cons

Stuck in the past. Unwilling to consider updating methods or procedures. "We've done it this way for 30 years and it has worked." Sales relies upon project engineers to do most of their work for them. When volume of work is slow that becomes the engineers responsibility to go find new clients. Can't reliably pay the most basic of utility bills on time. I've seen the power cut off 2x and the gas this past winter.
