Pros
The feeling of the mission, vision and values is evident as you walk through the hallways. The Senior Leadership team really cares about their employees and are very mission focused. The CEO at the caresite I work at does quarterly forums that are very informative. I think these are really valuable as it gives employees the chance to ask questions and to find out what is going on at a local level and the corporate level. SCL Health also offers their employees excellent benefits and growth opportunities.
Cons
One of the challenges would be the System Office. A lot of healthcare organizations are going this route to be a part of a larger system, and to survive in the common healthcare market today, it is probably a necessity. A lot of the times, the System Office does not have a full understanding of what is going on at the local care sites. It would be better to have more of the System Office folks onsite so they can see the daily operations. Working at one of the caresites is a lot different than sitting in a Corporate Office. I am not trying to cast a negative light on System Office because they are moving this organization forward!
