Pros

Coworkers are all pretty good people! If you get in as a favorite.. you’re good.

Cons

Those applying, please know this. Upper management asks the reps that are on a high to write reviews. I know of someone who was asked by a higher up to leave a good review here after the rep was on a high. This is a 3.9 star company for most departments.. but ABSOLUTELY not sales. You will go through Green Houzz which is a 3 month training program. If you don’t sell a certain $ amount in that period… you’re gone. Also, at any point if you have a bad month (lower than 60% quota) which happens in sales, take a vacation, or from the 98% spam leads you’re given, you will be put on a blueprint. That means that you have 1-2 months to hit a certain goal and if you don’t, you’re gone. Oh and if you do survive blueprint, and you ever were to have 1 more bad month, no more blueprint.. you’re just axed. There have been 2 classes of 20+ Account Executives in the past year and there is about 5 total reps left. As an AE2 the only way to get promoted is to be a favorite. There is clear favorites as most of the recent AE2’s that have been promoted to AE3’s were given a different lead source like call ins or were allowed to go to a trade show which allowed them to get promoted. With IPO around the corner(if the industry survives) there is a heavy push of software which we are well behind competitors and they are trying to thin the heard. The leads are getting worse and those who they see a path for in the future of the company are getting special treatment. There really is no need for AE2’s.. the goal for the AE2 is to work through the spam leads and try and find gold. We are basically SDR’s. Any really good lead as an AE2 has a decent chance of miraculously getting stolen by a higher rep.

Thank you for sharing about your time with us. I agree on the good people at Houzz. They really are the best! That said, I am troubled by what you have said here about favoritism, as that is not an experience I recognize from our teams. If you are comfortable doing so, I hope you will reach out, so we can talk more about what you experienced and how we can help all of our reps at all levels feel supported and appreciated. Please get in touch! Alex Hays, Senior Manager, Global Sales (Alexander.hays@houzz.com)

Pros

Great learning environment. Great training. Amazing people. Benefits started on day one. Fully remote. I will say i came down with COVID-19 and had continued health issues that kept me from working for 4 months. They worked with me and I came back to be successful in the role. I loved my team and my immediate leadership. I think if you are straight out of college or want to try sales. They are a great place to cut your teeth

Cons

Base pay is barely above minimum wage here in Washington. Most of the people were working two jobs. Leads are not warm or cool. They are many times incomplete and ice cold. They also make you stay an SDR for a year minimum and changed the rules on the requirements to be promoted to AE on training classes the were a month away from their 12th month. To many mini meetings everyday. 3 per day is waaaay to much. While it breaks up the day it also messes with your call flow.
