Pros

Co-workers work as a team. Good management team that always listen but hands are tied.

Cons

The company has changed recently whereby corporate has cut funds in a major way to the stores to adequately give them coverage for the store to run smoothly. It seems on a daily basis its always a struggle to get things done. Part timers can only work a certain amount of hours and or days without having to have open availability. Full timers on the other hand has to have open availability. Corporate is mandating that the managers have to abide by a software system to schedule all employees without any manipulation to the system. So if a part timer can only work certain days of the week or certain hours cause they go to school then the system fills in the gaps with the full timers that have to have open availability. Its not uncommon for the system to schedule a full timer 5,6,7 or 8 days straight . So lets say your scheduled to close the store on a Thursday and Friday and scheduled all weekend you can forget to see any family. There is no family/social life working here as a full timer any more. There is a lot of pressure put on us to get all the merchandise out that the partimers couldn't get to , to back up the register cause there is only one cashier scheduled , to sell credit cards, to engage with customers, to be called to different locations of the store , to merchandise the merchandise to standards , to take down very heavy rugs, to load very heavy merchandise into vehicles( by the way all of which is way over 50lbs. Yes this is our job but if the store is busy and there's not enough help because of lack of funds then the burden is on us always. It never use to be like this until recently , so if you are considering a full time position think again cause you will have no life and you will hurt constantly from the physical demands. It use to be a great place to work but not anymore.

Pros

it is a job if you desperately need one

Cons

management does not keep promises (e.g. I was promised $2 higher pay upon accepting the position and later was told it wasn't feasible anymore once starting. I was also promised a specific day off then last minute had it revoked because they decided to make it a mandatory day). management does not listen to or care about its employees, very unprofessional. store managers don't want to do anything to help, they just sit in the office. management let other employees slack off and do nothing and expected others to compensate for their lack of effort general manager was horribly rude and misogynistic. he threw a box at someone while visiting.
