Pros

HG pays well and constantly expresses appreciation for their employees. I've worked many places where the company touted themselves as being employee driven- none of them EVER gave any real evidence of this. Yes, I always had benefits, but in the end, ALL that they really showed they were interested in was money. I do realize that the company has to turn a profit to continue paying their employees, but every once in a while, a decision should be made in the best interest of the face of the company, your front line employees- this company does that and more! We have discretionary money for employee appreciation regularly. They often buy breakfast, lunch, or both. We have contests for opening cards, working with a sense of urgency, & sometimes just for fun. We have a blast and our staff is great!

Cons

We are constantly working pretty hard- the work is never done. We definitely have job security!

Pros

it is a job if you desperately need one

Cons

management does not keep promises (e.g. I was promised $2 higher pay upon accepting the position and later was told it wasn't feasible anymore once starting. I was also promised a specific day off then last minute had it revoked because they decided to make it a mandatory day). management does not listen to or care about its employees, very unprofessional. store managers don't want to do anything to help, they just sit in the office. management let other employees slack off and do nothing and expected others to compensate for their lack of effort general manager was horribly rude and misogynistic. he threw a box at someone while visiting.
