Pros

Handshake is the best company culture I've ever worked in. They try really hard to really support every individual person and tailor their management and feedback to supporting people. They deeply care about diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the motto "students first," and it truly permeates throughout the culture of the organization, Also, everyone is friends and it's a very transparent and open culture! The product of Handshake is also great to sell because it's actually a really amazing product and people love it. Work life balance is amazing and managers really look out for your mental health.

Cons

It's still a 'startup' culture, where some processes aren't fully defined yet. There are opportunities to help build that process, which is great, but there are growing pains in areas where it doesn't exactly match yet. There can also be growing pains as the org structure changes rapidly. Not completely clear what the timeline and expectations for promotion are (but told that it can be somewhat fast compared to other programs). Benefits aren't top tier due to this also but they are relatively strong based on the size of the company!

Pros

It's flexible and sometimes the money is OK. I got paid most of what they owed me.

Cons

Generally disorganized. The task I was on was one of the more highly paid ones but it was almost impossible to actually do in the allotted time. You aren't supposed to use AI but I think people must. The tasks run far over the time they are supposed to take. The human review system also seemed almost arbitrary. Reviewers did not have the subject matter expertise they claimed to. You will make less than the advertised hourly rate because the tasks routinely take longer than they say they will. If they have averages that are lower, those people are either not submitting accurate hours (there is incentive not to) or are using AI to train AI, which is a bigger problem (but not yours).
