Pros

the staff and customers in the store are great. wages are just okay as a manager but minimum wage for associates.

Cons

Since the USA took over Canada there is a lot of reporting that is so archaic and redundant. They love to use threatening tactics even when first explaining what they want done. Repeatedly hear the phrases "is just cause for termination" "you must be accountable" "if they are not on team then get rid of them". There is no respect given to even long time employees. I used to thoroughly enjoy my job as store manager but now I just wish these policy makers would try working in the store and seeing that most of the policies are ridiculous and the paper work is not only overwhelming but not even useful in day to day operations. Product has been going downhill, most dollar store type items at higher cost. Even the quality of everyday cards is not the same as it was 5-6 years ago. Hard to be proud about selling these days. Management used to have a good work/life balance but now only one weekend allowed a month and holiday restrictions are not allowing much of a life.

Pros

Great company and great people! Very thorough training program.

Cons

It can be hard work! Some stores don't have deliveries where they're suppose to be and you have to go searching. You have an allotted amount time to spend at each store.

Pros

My colleagues and former boss were wonderful and supportive. The job was pretty easy and working at several different stores kept me from getting bored.

Cons

Pay is too low. New management ruined everything, at least in my world. My boss resigned because of her new boss coming in trying to micromanage her when my boss had been with the company 20+ years and didn't want to deal with that which I understand. Then I got terminated by that new boss after I told her about my newly diagnosed personality disorder which is illegal. I already filed a formal complaint with the EEOC and have an interview with them next month.
