Bait and Switch - Marketing GuideWell Connect Employee Review

Pros

There are a few really smart, talented people who shoulder most of the work while leadership lacks vision and experience. Pay is great and benefits are enticing. Guidewell has been pro-active during the COVID crisis to move employees to work-from-home environments and they take the safety of their employees very seriously.

Cons

I've never worked for a worse company. There are so many drawbacks. I'll list the top 10: 1) There are too many re-orgs to count. The company changes direction every six months or so, and everyone gets reshuffled. 2) None of the leaders have communicated a clear vision, or product offerings, for the company. They are on their 3rd CEO in six years (the entire C-suite has flipped, in fact) if that gives any indication of the organization's lack of vision and financial stability. 3) The executive team has ZERO marketing experience, nor can they agree whether or not GWC is a marketing firm, even though they pitch clients as such. 4) You will be hired under the guise of one position, then suddenly asked to perform something completely different 5) The clients are verbally abusive, and the leadership does not back their stakeholders while clients lie and manipulate the leaders to get what they want. 6) They keep losing clients because there are no streamlined processes for getting work completed promptly. Nor do they have a single person on the Client Success team with any training in how to actually manage a client. 7) For a technology company, their capabilities are disparate, and systems do not talk to one another. 8) ZERO onboarding, training opportunities, or team-building efforts - you will be left to fend for yourself to learn anything about other employees, departments, or the organization (and this was pre-pandemic) 9) SVP of Client Services has NEVER managed a marketing account before being hired. She is rude, condescending, and doesn't take ideas from people on the team who have the experience to help make the organization better. 10) After losing several accounts, many from the operations teams were laid off. In contrast, upper management and the account managers who failed to perform their duties (aka lost the business) were kept on the payroll. Bonus #11: There is absolutely NO work-life balance during/before/after open enrollment periods.
