Pros
Clients and fellow employees including the manager and Great Clips Corp as a whole are are all great. Very willing to help and train.
Cons
Most of the franchisees, especially in the Jacksonville area are terrible. Don't expect to receive benefits of any kind or to make over $9/hr. Unless you're management. Most franchisees don't know if they're coming or going, they don't have any interest in upholding the Great Clips way unless it makes them more money. They have little morals and are not there to help you as an employee. Long hours, no competitive wages, no benefits no room to grow. Most franchisees don't know the business or have never cut hair or even ran a salon before and only care about numbers and productivity. Because of this it is near impossible to build a clientele or actually spend time with your client. I was also hired under the impression I would be granted pto and an assistant manager position which never happened. Also at this location I was subjected to an assault by one of the franchise owners stemming from a heated argument about why I would not be receiving any Paid time off as previously promised. Needless to say I am no longer employed at this location, this assault was the last straw and I was forced to resign. I currently have claims put in with both the labor board and Great Clips Corporate. My suggestion is to either find a location owned by corporate or be very wary of what is promised on the front end by the franchisees as you will most likely not get what you're promised at the time of hiring and most likely subjected to poor treatment.
