Beware the commission structure! - Licensed Cosmetologist Great Clips Employee Review

Pros

Got as many hours as I wanted, often working 65 hour weeks. Loved my coworkers, loved the clients, made decent money in tips.

Cons

The commission structure means every haircut has to be under twelve minutes. Even if you manage that, one slow day is all it takes to burn the entire two week pay period, since they average it across the whole period. Realized I wasn't being paid overtime for my overtime hours, tried to discuss with franchise owner, they pretended like they couldn't understand me. Non cosmetology professional owners, which was fine, they were great in some aspects, but not in others, like refusing to understand how important sanitation and disinfecting is.
