Pros
Things always appear more troubling when you're on the inside--you're never sure if the little things are actually big deals or not. So the recent validation of our direction, hard work, and value add as a result of the investment by Hellman & Friedman is fantastic. It clears doubts and makes me more confident that Genesys is on track and succeeding. This is all in addition to the regular things that are great about Genesys, from the support for true work-life balance to the consistent rewards for individual experimentation and risk taking in the context of innovating for the company. This feels like a place you want to come to and stay a while.
Cons
There are always cons in work and life. At Genesys they include a recent up-tick in calls for measurement, measurement that as yet may not prove meaningful. This is understandable on the one hand, but can distract at times from the jobs we need to do. Another con is usual tension that arrives when a company is seeking to grow from its flat, intimate youth to a more hierarchical and mature larger company.
