Pros
If you are a recent graduate, Gartner has a good 'global' name to have. If you are able to put your head down and not be affected by a toxic culture then this is good. You learn a lot around working in a bad culture, political plays, makes you more thick skinned. C-level exposure. Great research to learn from. The most incredible people you will meet in your team and some across other teams. Gartner recruits some of the most intelligent hard working individuals, they are really good at finding the best of the best, unfortunately due to its culture it destroys everyone.. We have lost some of the greatest associates. A new head of Services has started, has acknowledged our concerns however hasn't shared yet what will be implemented to change. There is a lot of change that needs happening and will take time. I hope for all of us that this will be implemented soon.. very soon.
Cons
As everyone on here mentions; it is metrics focused, unfortunately that causes some bad behavior around ticking boxes. Management doesn't notice these, as long as you've ticked your box they'll be happy, won't question you and everyone is happy. Management does not know how to manage - it is very Micro orientated, expect your calls to be recorded and monitored (you are senior but working in a call centre). They will bombard you with questions and follow ups (hence the box ticking behaviors) There is no positive coaching or positive mentoring. It is all about pointing out what you have not achieved, even if you are top performing. If you are a very self-motivated individual, be prepared for that to be stripped away from you. No guidance, you can ask questions but no one knows the answer. Many people are run down, burned out and demotivated so it will affect your productivity and your opinion on Gartner a lot quicker before you figure it out yourself. No career opportunities due to the size of ANZ. Better opportunities in other regions. Salary is also very low compared to the industry. If you are considering Gartner, read the reviews and really put yourself first in thinking if this is right for you.
