OK first job, but expect a toxic corporate culture full of lost souls - Anonymous employee GLG Employee Review

Pros

- Great job to develop professional, interpersonal (soft) skills - Work closely with leading firms and corporations - Smart and interesting colleagues for the most part - Nice office location (heart of downtown ATX) - Free coffee bar - Free Tuesday lunch (though the food itself is not good) - Work on interesting projects here and there

Cons

- You don't learn any hard skills on the client solutions team (or any other teams for that matter, unless you're a part of strategy or engineering) - Terrible middle management system. Your direct manager can be as young as 23 and often no older than 28. Clear lack of diverse and interesting perspectives to learn from - Open format office. Some people may find that to be a Pro, but to me it's very distracting and frustrating to hear endless chatter throughout the workday - No real incentives until you reach Team Lead role (I.e. no quarterly bonuses/incentives for client solutions managers or associates even though they are the ones driving the output and managing client relationships) - Emphasis on "continuous improvement" means that new technology is rolled out with several bugs that can take several days or weeks to address - Senior leadership regularly side steps questions on employee turnover during company-wide Town Halls. Their attempts at improving company culture are abysmal Overall: GLG is not necessarily a bad company to work for if the above Cons don't align with your preferences. The phrase "you learn a mile wide and an inch deep" is true there. So if you're a lost soul and don't know which industry you want to be in, then GLG might be right for you as a FIRST job. I'd never recommend this to anyone who is already in the workforce.

Pros

Amazing people - lots of reviews say that because it's true. You'll work with smart, genuine, hard working humans. Good benefits and perks. Interesting events and opportunities to learn. Overall, a good place to start your career!

Cons

Very fast-paced environment which definitely isn't for everyone. Lots of necessary change.

Pros

People at the peer level are great and you learn about some interesting industries

Cons

This is the worst place I have ever worked. Management does not care about you. They put on a front, but push and push and ask for more no matter how hard you work. You can be a top performer, but if you leave on time to go home they're not happy. It's never enough and the work never ends. It's just not worth it.
