Pros

The company is great to work for. They listen to your ideas, empower you to do great work, and want to see you grow. They always try to make their employees feel cared for and are truly passionate about the work they do for their customers.

Cons

Small growing pains that are a part of any startup, but nothing major.

Pros

Nice peers that are talented. Ok compensation.

Cons

This is the most toxic workplace I’ve ever experienced. My manager micromanaged me constantly and made my life miserable for months. Focused has clearly demonstrated they do not care about their employees (case in point: laying off a large percentage of employees via email on a scheduled company holiday and giving them the absolute bare minimum severance package). They fire or lay people off at an alarmingly high rate so it’s a constant revolving door. But don’t worry, they’ll be sure to post your job not too long after laying you off! The treatment of employees is a stunning departure from the way they advertise themselves. They say they want open feedback and to develop a psychologically safe space, but yet seem quick to develop an adversarial relationship with employees when given feedback they disagree with. Communication of expectations is nonexistent. A culture of fear permeates day-to-day work because everyone sees their coworkers getting fired right and left, despite leaderships attempts to place all of the blame on the former employees. Their offsites also feel like frat parties, with leadership openly pushing drinks on people. The work itself leaves a lot to be desired as well. WLB and interest in your work will vary widely by client. I especially would not recommend working here to someone in a non-engineering role. Every role here is an afterthought to engineering. I’ve never felt less respected or valued as I did when I worked here.
