Pros

-Market leading products -CEO with a great vision -Good client base, ongoing cash flow -acquisitions to make better products

Cons

-Core and the most experienced people in the Melbourne office are long-termers, seriously 15-27 years in the same company. Ahh ahh, this is the root cause of all problems.-Each department has such long-termers which stop anyone else to succeed - Clearly, the core management lacks international experience, as this is the only place where they have spent their lives. - They have systematically created an environment of no support, knowing that it is a complex product and people would fail without support - Those who work hard and somehow try to establish, are killed by the long-standing friendships. XYZ is bad because ABC and DEF think so. No questions, period. -Most engineers who joined in the last 3 years have ALREADY LEFT - With about 60 people working, there is not a single HR. You have no voice. -Extreme level of micromanagement, counting even 15 minutes of your time. You only work for the release graph. -Middle managers know (almost) nothing about the product and are just there to manage time and create perceptions, which the VP would blindly believe. -The local management brings a change in the processes every now and then, keeping everything same at the core, oldies getting the cream, and newbies working hard. -Only good for freshers or those getting no opportunity elsewhere.

Pros

Great people, great culture and pretty good work life balance. Salary is competitive and benefits are good (not great). They also have a fully remote business model that helps with work life balance. If your in a couple areas you can go into the office if you want to however.

Cons

Some fragmentation in the business makes driving positive outcomes more difficult then it should be. A little bit of a feeling that you have to justify your existence, nothing too severe, but it does add to some anxiety about job security.

Thank you for this. Glad the culture, people, and remote flexibility are resonating. The point about fragmentation and job security anxiety is heard. That feeling should not be part of the day to day experience and we are paying attention to it. Your suggestion on bringing SMEs into QBRs is a good one. Decisions are better when the people closest to the work have a voice. We appreciate you taking the time to be that specific and will share this internally.

Pros

Good remote working options are available

Cons

Direct leadership frequently used 1:1 meetings to discuss personal matters rather than tracking project timelines, yet would later blame subordinates when timelines slipped. It was an incredibly uncomfortable environment where it felt impossible to succeed. Good ideas would be implemented and well-received by others, but direct management would find something negative to focus on, like claiming it took too long Communication from direct management was passive-aggressive and often crossed professional boundaries. The language used in team settings was frequently inappropriate, including the use of highly offensive, derogatory language disguised as jokes. I was uncomfortable most of the time I worked there.
