Pros

Can be a satisfying place to work if you have a good attitude. Great products, great people, good benefits and competitive salaries.

Cons

At times communication is less than stellar from upper and middle management; Farnam is owned by Central Garden & Pet Co., which is going through major restructuring so employees are not always informed of changes to come.

Pros

You can bring your pet to work. Early working hours 6-3PM if you work in certain departments. Friendly GM, coordinators and assistants are nice. You gain corporate experience. Alyssa is a saint: each comment below does not reflect her whatsoever!

Cons

I'm pretty low-maintenance and don't ever bad-mouth my employers but I had such a horrible experience working here, I wanted to warn you before it's too late! There are certain departments (marketing/brand) that arrive whenever they please, sometimes 3-4 hours late without notice or informing the team. Lack of respect for meetings and technology -- they can be a bit behind within the digital world it seems like. I constantly had to "cover" myself after meetings or in-person conversations and send out an email recapping everything so that I had proof of deadlines and discussions. They will try to say that they missed the deadline because of you or because you weren't clear with them...My advice: COVER YOURSELF! I noticed certain people blamed others when they forgot deadlines or assignments. Their boss is not in phoenix and he is never around to see them. He is very nice and visits every once in a while. It's kind of funny because when he does visit, they make sure to show-up on time. They also tend to "takeover" meetings that YOU create with their own work that has been missed due to their poor time-management skills. I've heard them talk behind each employees back. The managers (especially Martha) does not understand work/life balance with family, especially if you have kids, since none of them have kids. If you arrive early or on-time they may expect you to stay later (after 6PM) so that they can talk to you about items that could have been discussed earlier in the day. Agency: The agency we worked with is a joke, just like you have to cover yourself with the brand team, you also have to cover yourself with the agency (I worked with Bridget). If you can, do the same thing with covering yourself. Often, if you email Bridget she will call you for a quick response and then forget what you talk about. She is a people pleaser if higher-ups are on the call or in a meeting.
