This company is guilty of some of the worst exploitation and mistreatment of their employees. They'll give you a job. You'll make $770 biweekly (wahoo...) at first until you "graduate". Then you will still be making less than $2,000 a month. They claim that you will be making much more in commission when you first start talking with them, but when they show you how this actually works, you'll come to the sad conclusion that there is not really opportunity to make mildly significant commission, so you're basically just fighting everyday to keep making $1,800/month. I swear, I cannot think of a single person, not including people in management, that enjoys working at Exact Data. I took the job because it sounded like an exciting opportunity in "marketing", but I could not have been more wrong. When I got there I found out that most of the employees at Exact Data ended up there because of some hand of bad luck (legal trouble, mental illness, failed business ventures, etc.). The attitude is like "So why are you here?" A lot of the employees wandered over here from retail, then eventually realized that they were better off being a cashier or whatever. Exact Data hires five new people every week, and it is probably safe to say that they fire close to that number each week. It is a revolving door culture. I believe the person who has been an account executive there the longest has been there less than a year. You're options are either get fired or move onto a better opportunity at a different company, and then a few lucky ones here and there get management positions. So the managers are a tight-knit group, but they could care less about 98% of the sales floor simply because they know that they are only there temporarily. People who are well-liked and had proven success were fired because of a small slump. You really never even establish a true desk spot because you are constantly being moved around to fit with the traffic coming in and out of the company Exact Data is an extremely shady company not only to its own employees, but also when it comes to business. Almost every list that you sell will come back with a "case" which is what they call it when a client is not satisfied with the list and demands retribution. I got calls from people trying to reach the sales rep who just got fired, literally holding back tears claiming they are going to lose their jobs because they spent a lot of their companies money on a marketing campaign and they ended up receiving something different than what they ordered. Generally, Exact Data leaves people with a bad taste in their mouth and they do not return for business after they learn this lesson. I feel ashamed to be a member of this organization that scams good people, mostly small business owners, who at some point got some drive to expand their business operations through email, phone, and postal mailing campaigns. I have already been offered sales positions at other companies that are actually legitimate, so as soon as I hear back from the last of them, I am going to walk away from Exact Data. I know, it might sound like I am trying to persuade you to have negative feelings towards Exact Data. Hey, you're free to do what you want, but I thought you should know the truth about this fly-by-night company from somebody who has experienced it firsthand so take or leave what I say. They are going to tell you things and string you along, but eventually you come to realize that you have joined one of the worst companies out there, and everything you heard was too good to be true.
