A good way to be introduced to commercial additive manufacturing, but you WILL need to detox after leaving. - Anonymous employee EnvisionTEC Employee Review

Pros

-This company can be a good stepping stone into the industry, but keep in mind while there, that this is NOT how proper businesses are run. You WILL need time to detoxify after leaving. - The support network. A lot of wonderful people work here, with whom I have made lifelong friends. Mind you, if the CEO catches wind that you talk to any former employees, even on non-work related terms he will try to fire you.

Cons

- It can be an extremely toxic environment. -The C-Level almost seems to encourage a division between the different offices (California, Germany, Dearborn) which often leads to a lack of information shared. -The 3SP machines are hastily constructed with cheap materials and inexperienced laborers, same with the desktop DLP printers. -The large DLP printers have been rebranded so many times, each with a price increase; yet we are forced to tell customers that it is a new technology and merits the drastic price increases. -At least in the time I was there, we were forced to ever increase the amount of support we gave to customers, while expected to both know when to not give support (Almost no, or constantly changing guidelines on this) with constantly shrinking resources and increasingly higher demand on the technicians. -One of my favorite reoccurring lines heard, was when a customer demanded to return the machine, the CEO would offer them a deal where they pay more money, and EnvisionTEC will take the machine back and give them two different ones, usually, that had the same problems as the original. -The CEO is such an aggressive, touchy and paranoid person that all of the employees are working in relatively constant fear of him. While some argue that this works, it's an extremely stressful and draining environment. The time off is laughable, and the compensation is worse. With the recent exodus of employees who have escaped to a greener, more sane pastures, they've locked down the Non-Compete so much that, while completely over-reaching to the point of not being legal, none of the employees have the ability to fight it. They change it to something that won't let you work anywhere near this industry for 3 years after leaving (regardless how long you've been with the company, a career death sentence to some of the technical staff) and tell you that if you don't sign the contract addendum you'll be terminated; but that even if you don't sign it, it still applies to you. -The CEO will take a 5 second, frequently out of context impression of you, and like a stubborn animal apply that opinion to the rest of your professional career there. God forbid you are to make a mistake, or he catches you glancing at your phone. Doesn't matter the excuse or reason; you will get written up.
