Pros

New management company (Spire Hospitality) provided capital for much needed renovation. GM creates comfortable culture and provides opportunities to cross train or learn new areas. Seattle area has strong demand for business, leisure and groups. New management company is acquiring hotels in other areas of the country providing some options for career growth if you are willing to relocate. Work/Life balance was reasonable for departments that were correctly staffed.

Cons

Badly needed renovation was long overdue. Management company should have allowed some decrease in occupancy or even complete closure during most destructive periods of renovation. Hotel was often understaffed and turnover in all levels of positions. Pay and benefits were average. Can not take PTO until after a year and no sick pay. As a franchise, you are not equally supported by Hilton as other Hilton managed properties.

Pros

Friendly guests, opportunities to learn multiple areas of the operation, and some hardworking coworkers who genuinely care about providing good service.

Cons

Management inconsistency and favoritism created a difficult work environment. Concerns and feedback were not always handled objectively, and decisions often appeared to be influenced by personal relationships rather than facts or direct communication. Employees could be held accountable without being given an opportunity to explain their perspective, leading to a culture where misunderstandings escalated instead of being resolved. Communication between management and staff lacked transparency, and morale suffered as a result.
