Pros

Nice team and great product

Cons

While the team itself is kind and supportive, the overall work environment is extremely difficult due to the CEO’s leadership style. The company struggles with serious organizational issues and inefficiencies that directly affect clients, projects are often delayed or mishandled because systems are poorly managed and constant rework is required. The main problem is that the CEO refuses to let anyone improve things. He micromanages every process, dismisses suggestions, and often undermines employees’ efforts. Instead of empowering the team, he tends to belittle people and second-guess their work, which creates an atmosphere of fear and frustration. Feedback is rarely constructive, and conversations frequently turn critical or demeaning. While the mission of the company is meaningful and the staff genuinely care about their work, the lack of trust, respect, and organization from the top makes it nearly impossible to succeed or grow professionally. Unless leadership changes its approach, I wouldn’t recommend working here.

Pros

The people here are pretty amazing. Smart, motivated, and always willing to help. It’s a friendly, collaborative environment where you actually enjoy coming to work. Leadership has an open-door policy and they take the time to listen, which makes you feel valued and supported. The onboarding process was great, and I’ve continued to learn so much since joining. There’s room for growth, whether you want to move up, or explore a different opportunity. For a small business, the company offers pretty good pay and benefits, and personally my favorite part is that I'm working on projects that make a positive impact in the world.

Cons

Elevate is leading in a fast-growing and innovative space, and things move quickly, but our leadership team does a pretty good job of adapting and keeping everyone informed and focused.

Pros

The mission of eliminating plastic is a great one. The team doing the work is fantastic.

Cons

If the current CEO is involved in any capacity, run the other way. He actively subverts the entire team’s efforts in order to feel superior. No team member will ever be correct if their work disagrees with him in any way. You will quickly grow frustrated with trying to push forward any meaningful improvement and will then be subjected to the most combative, condescending, and demoralizing rants. He will belittle you constantly. Not limited to but including: asking if you know English, claiming you lack critical thinking, asking if you know how the tools you built work, telling you that you should be more humble - you don’t know everything, claim you get confused a lot, threaten to cut your pay in half and stick you in the warehouse, etc. Additionally, you’ll be asked to do work outside the company for his personal life. He consistently schedules time with you and fails to show up or communicate in any way, but will still hold you accountable for his transgressions. Lastly, on the admin side - keep a copy of everything, you will not be able to ask for a copy from the company at a later date, they will either not be able to find it or refuse to provide it. Do not fall prey to the promise of full time employment after starting as a contractor. He will string you along until you quit, reassuring you at every checkpoint that they are working to get you onboarded full time so you can claim health benefits.
