Pros
- Really great colleagues with diverse backgrounds and skill sets. - Plenty to learn as consultants are left to independently lead projects - Occasional events (maybe every 3 months) are well organised and fun - Pretty decent comp in MENA region
Cons
- Performance review process is variable and obscure, very dependent on individual mentors and how they present your case to the review panel in your absence - Organisation expanded too quickly and too optimistically, leaving consultants on the bench for more than a year (which is reflected in their performance reviews / promotion opportunities as well) - Promotions are too political even at the most junior levels, resulting in consistently discreditable promotion lists (undeserving promotions over more qualified candidates) - Local HR function will either ignore problems flagged, or try their best to exacerbate problems, depending on their individual preferences. Problems need to be escalated to global HR function for any hope of resolution. - Minor con: Little choice in project assignment even if you have multiple project teams requesting for you. Dependent on mentor/staffing agendas and priorities which, while understandable, is still a con.
