Pros

- Edmentum's already in thousands of districts, and growing each year - The portfolio covers the whole student path. Exact Path for adaptive practice, Study Island for test prep, Courseware and Apex for instruction and credit recovery, MajorClarity for career and college planning. Not many competitors cover that much ground. - The mission actually matters. Credit recovery and intervention go right to the kids who've fallen behind and need a way back.

Cons

Legacy weight, not unique to Edmentum. Older platforms carry tech debt that takes real time and money to modernize.

Pros

Edmentum teachers have synchronous and asynchronous work. It is nice to have flexibility for the asynchronous work. The health insurance is pretty good. There is not too much micromanaging, and that is appreciated. I enjoy working from home, and many of the employees are disabled yet capable, and/or they have children at home.

Cons

Edmentum hiring committees and salespeople will promise anything to close the deal. Many potential employees were promised completely flexible schedules only to be told they couldn't even pick up their kids from school after they had turned down other opportunities. When interviewing, get any promises in writing. Each year, we get more and more work with very little raise, resulting in ultimately less compensation for our work as well as less money to pay bills due to inflation. We used to get compensated when subbing for other teachers, but no longer. They give us generous PTO, only to restrict us from using it. Teachers can only take off 2 days at a time. So much for that 3-day cruise or taking the week off when your children are on Spring break. Union busting phrases have been used by management, so that is their response to employees asking for better conditions. Be ready to teach 5 classes a day, each with different curriculum. Be aware that many of the schools we videoteach in are tough schools. If they cannot find certified teachers, they hire us.
