Toxic culture with constant layoffs and poor pay

Pros

There are none left due to so many changes year after year.

Cons

Can’t take off more than 2 days in a row. If 10% of the staff has already requested off, PTO is denied. They make it impossible to use your PTO and your time doesn’t roll over for the next year. Instructional management is constantly making changes, restructuring, and adding more and more tasks to your already overwhelming daily load. Promotions are based on office politics and not merit. Layoffs every year like clockwork. Little to no training for new employees. Pay is well below comparable positions at competitors.

Don't do it, friends

Pros

Remote work, minimal oversight, that's about it.

Cons

You get plenty of PTO but they make it almost impossible to use. Operations is an absolute dumpster fire. You could easily end up teaching live classes for a full day-- a privilege for which they pay significantly less than teaching a fully day in a classroom. Instructional Services restructures annually, so don't get attached to your supervisor. (I once had four in one school year.)

Pros

Remote, flexibility, students, not much more…

Cons

Constant lay offs and restructuring year after year. Zero job security. Top heavy company who finds ways to create new positions for their friends to earn a higher salary. They never post these new positions for anyone to have an opportunity to apply, rather just hand them out to their favorites (who are all under qualified). VP of instruction is constantly throwing new ideas to grow the business hoping one sticks instead of focusing on what is currently working and refining from there. This results in constant restructuring, lay-offs and rehires. Charges customers for services they never receive. Revolving door of teachers who are not properly trained which results in a lack of consistency for student expectations. Overwhelmed middle management and inaccessible upper management. Student enrollment continues to drop due to poorly organized upper leadership.
