Pros
other pest technicians are a friendly bunch (not including management). good equipment levels.
Cons
one of the worst companies i have ever worked for, for following reasons had to sort out my own tax forms. having completed these and sent off, still the office did not bother with the information i providing because of this i was on emergency tax for the first 4 months of my employment. as soon as i joined the turnover of staff was apparent as my manager left straight away. as followed other key members of the team. i was not paid overtime that i was worked. when talking to management about this issue i barely got a response and no help despite being new. management of my team constantly read my messages and did not reply. including no help booking in spray treatments for clients at night times and many other issues. constantly hiring people with no experience and when all the experienced people leave ecolab are left with a bunch of retail assistants and newbies trying to sort out pest issues. pay is low. overtime rate is low. promised travel for oyster, constantly underpaid by at least 25 pounds each time which i had to pay for. unprofessional management who cant understand that quality and quantity is at times contradictory. joint and had to reset all of my sites as contained mixing active rodenticide chemicals, old baits, and lack of equipment. no help from anyone doing this. one of the worst learning experiences from a pest control company, who instead of sending technicians on courses do an in house talk and their own monthly quiz. this is not sufficient at all and is one reason why ecolabs technicians are not up to the standards of other pest control companies in terms of knowledge. real lack of communication from team managers and office. at times jobs will be sent over that you know nothing about or when to do them. you will have to do all the chasing yourself at this company. in my induction ecolab at northwich claimed to hire only the best. i sat in a room of 30 and me and 1 other person had done pest control... is that really the best? no thats insulting and ridiculous. these words came from the ceo. lots of inexperienced technicians left out in the deep end. unprepared, lack of knowledge, and unsafe frankly. unqualified technicians using professional insecticides and rodenticides, against the law and happens as you will be expected to go out on your own after 2 weeks even if brand new to pest control with poor training. no facial hair. claimed to be for spraying, however spray jobs are booked in yet you always have to be clean shaving. makes no sense. if ecolab want to be so thorough with health and safety why let brand new people go out alone. staff all thoroughly dissatisfied with management and office. lack of team cohesion among most patches since constantly new people. surveyors and team leaders very lazy.
