Pros

Flexible schedule, fun job, students are nice, Cooper Minis are great to drive.

Cons

While the company quotes a decent hourly rate, no one is really paid that. An instructor is lucky if he/she makes minimum wage. The hourly rate quoted is per hour of instruction only. It does not include travel time between lessons unless it takes longer than one hour of driving before and one hour after a two-hour lesson or 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after a one-hour lesson. Even then, it is at a much lower rate of pay. They do not disclose this up front. I had many days that I began driving at 6 AM and finished at 10 PM but was only paid for 6 hours. There's also paperwork that must be completed on your own time, but it's pretty easy. Often, I was scheduled to be in two or three places at once, and I ended up with angry customers and management when I wasn't able to be at all three. The job would have been great if I had been paid for all the hours I put in. The turnover is VERY high because of the company's deceptive pay practices, which are possibly illegal but are most certainly unethical.

Pros

Flexible schedule! You set what days and times you want to work and if there's students available, they'll be added to your schedule. Should be willing to work afternoons/evenings or weekends when teens are out of school. The students are nice and teaching a beginner to drive can be a rewarding experience. Good job for an independent person who wants to make some extra money.

Cons

There's a lot to learn quickly and the management can be very patronizing in correcting your inevitable errors. Don't expect any pats-on-the-back or positive feedback from superior(s) based out of Canyon Lake, CA. Would not recommend this as a full-time job. Sitting in a car all day can be taxing and honestly a bit lonely and boring as your only company are your 15-year-old students. There's not much potential for personal or professional growth.
